Regional Meetings

The four regions organise a programme of meetings on scientific subjects of interest to members.

There are normally two major meetings annually, one in the autumn when the Regional AGM is held and one in the Spring.

Other meetings or visits to local laboratories may be arranged from time to time.

Annual Conference

A national conference is currently held at The Royal Hotel, Scarborough during the week immediately before Easter, this year's conference was held 17 - 20th March 2008.
Both members and invited speakers present papers on their work, which may range from initial results of a PhD project to reviews of pertinent veterinary science fields. There are usually over 120 papers given at the conference and a booklet of abstracts is produced which is circulated to all members.

The conference is structured around a series of themed sessions, led by invited speakers, and a plenary lecture given by a key speaker on an important area of teaching or research. However, time is also available for scientists to present papers on the subject of their choice independent of the specific themes. Scarborough has proved to be a very useful forum within which young post graduate scientists can present their first few papers to a discerning audience.

This conference provides an opportunity for those from research institutes, veterinary investigation centres, commercial companies, universities and veterinary schools to meet and exchange ideas. The Abstracts submission form maybe found on the download pages

A flavour of the 2008Conference at Scarborough can be found in the report published by the Veterinary Record Click here.
